A Fascinating History
The Langton Arms in Church Langton is a gem steeped in centuries of English charm. Perched amidst the cluster of “Langtons” in Leicestershire, this enchanting pub takes its name from a family whose roots entwine with medieval bishops and manor lords. You might whisper its name to evoke Walter de Langton of 1321, once Bishop of Coventry & Lichfield and royal treasurer, who hailed from these very lands.
Its walls echo the story of Thorpe, East, West and Tur Langton, parcels of an ancient estate granted in 1086, where King Charles I paused to water his steed during the Civil War. Fast forward to August 24 2024, when the Langton reopened in full bloom, complete with sun lit pergolas, BBQ kitchen and steak nights rising again as the heart of the community.
